Elon University students held a die-in demonstration on Aug. 13 to protest the university’s decision to hold in-person classes for the fall semester. Now, Elon’s cumulative total of COVID-19 cases have risen from 10 to 18 total cases since the die-in. NEOWISE was discovered March 27 and named for the NEOWISE program using the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer space telescope, which was placed into orbit in 2011. The comet’s orbital period is 4,400–6,700 years. [Abby Gibbs/Times-News].
